Be careful while using a ladder

September 29, 2009

A ladder can be useful in many ways. If you like to do things yourself, a ladder is essential. There are different types of ladders you can choose from depending on your needs. However, while using a ladder, you should be careful and cautious. It is essential to consider your safety while using ladders.

Always be careful while climbing a ladder. Avoid climbing with wet feet and always use a wooden ladder for electrical purposes. Check if the ladder is strong enough to take your weight. Dry the steps of the ladder to ensure safety. Ask someone to always be there with you while you are using the ladder. You can lose your balance or just slip off accidentally, so another person’s presence could prove to be helpful. Tighten any loosened bolts and always ensure that the ladder is stationed appropriately. Position the ladder on a strong support on a flat surface and not a muddy or unsteady surface. Keep the ladder away from the window panes or floor roofs. Do not attempt to climb if you are not sure about how the ladder is stationed. Hold the ladder from two sides while climbing.

Never carry heavy tools while you are climbing up the ladder and wear shoes with a non-skid sole. Position yourself at the centre of the ladder while climbing and avoid leaning once you are on top of the ladder.

Avoid using a ladder when the wind is blowing. Be safe and take proper precautions while using ladders.
