Help with choosing the right loft ladders

November 2, 2009
Posted in Ladders — Written by Bill

Loft conversions are a fantastic way of maximising the existing space in your home. Although many people choose to convert their lofts into additional bedrooms, they can also be used as extra storage space. If you’re converting your loft into an additional room, then you will need a strong and durable ladder that will be able to withstand frequent daily use. If your loft is just being used for storage purposes then you probably won’t be using it as frequently, so a different type of ladder will be required.

Pull down loft ladders are some of the most popular options, and are generally available in two different styles- sliding ladders and folding ladders. These are ideal if you’re short on space, as they fit away neatly when they’re not in use.

Loft ladders are usually constructed from wood or metal. Although the metal ladders are more durable, they can also be noisier, so you should decide what features are the most important to you.

Many loft ladders are also fitted with handrails, which are ideal if the conversion is being used as an additional bedroom, as they enable users to maintain their balance more easily.

Loft ladders are a fantastic alternative to fixed stairs, and there are many different styles available on the market.
