Loft ladder - Must have in all homes with attics or lofts

June 17, 2009
Posted in Ladders — Written by Bill

The attic or loft of the home is often used for storing goods. As reaching the attic or loft is not required frequently, people often do not use a fixed staircase, but gain access by piling up other objects like tables and stools. This set up is extremely dangerous and can easily hurt the person accessing the attic or loft.

Having a loft ladder is the best way to reach for the attics and lofts in a safe way. Loft ladders provide the required balance and support and help the person to climb up to the attic or loft without hurting themselves. Loft ladders can be permanently fixed or used temporarily for easy access to the lofts and attics.

There are many types of loft ladders to choose from. The wooden loft ladder is preferred by most people who want a permanently fixed loft ladder as it is safe and easily capable of matching any home décor. Wooden loft ladders are strong and durable and can also support heavily built persons.

Usually, wooden loft ladders are fitted with hand rails on both the sides in order to ensure better balance of the person using the loft ladder. An integral hatch is commonly used to fit the loft ladder permanently.

You can also go for aluminium loft ladders as they are light and can be easily dismantled and carried. Aluminium loft ladders are a better option only when you do not want the loft ladder to be permanently fixed so that you can use it for reaching other higher points.

So, whichever be the ladder you choose, make sure you get hold of one sooner rather than later for ensured safety.
