The different types of materials used to make ladders

A ladder can get a lot of use in and around the house. These ladders can be used to reach those places that you are not able to reach without one. We do not give much thought as to how useful these ladders can be to us. Ladders come in different types to meet our different needs such as loft ladders, scaffold towers, extension ladders and telescopic ladders.

Different ladders are better suited for different purposes. The material that is used to make it gives it the strength and toughness that is needed for that particular task. Aluminium ladders for example are very strong and are light in weight. These can be transported very easily from one place to another. It is also resistant to corrosion and can also resist the wear and tear that affects other ladder materials. They also do not crack or break as easily as wooden ladders. It should not be used in extreme heat or for electrical purposes.

Wooden ladders and fibreglass ladders
Wooden ladders are strong and can be used for electrical purposes. Its downsides are that it is heavy and can weaken over time. Fibreglass can withstand high temperatures and is exceptionally strong and can withstand different climatic conditions. It is the heaviest ladder and can crack under heavy pressure.
