Yes this is fine. You would just use fewer treads when building it. Take a look at our installation guide for more details.

The baluster kit adds an extra vertical spindle to each tread and 2 more on the landing step – reducing the gap between each spindle. On the 1200mm, this reduces the gap to less than 100mm, whereas to accomplish the same on the 1400mm model, you would need to buy 2 baluster kits.

Yes this is fine. The top landing tread can be cut to accommodate a round hole. Please see the installation instructions for a guide on how to do this.
